Find confidence in your drawing with our Beginner Figure Drawing Class, designed to teach you the foundations of figure drawing. Guided by Figurative Artist and Life Drawing Sessions founder Rebecca Cunningham, you’ll work from a live model and explore key techniques including observational drawing, blocking in shadow, and gestural drawing. Whether you're completely new to drawing or looking to refresh your skills, this class is ideal for absolute beginners and those wanting to strengthen their practice.

Throughout the day, you'll be working with charcoal, learning how to build a drawing from basic shapes and proportions through to line work and mark-making. While developing core techniques, you’ll also be guided through a series of expressive exercises that encourage mark making and a dynamic approach to drawing. The class balances structure with creativity, helping you gain confidence and a solid foundation in figure drawing.

This full-day workshop runs from 9am to 3pm at the Hive Art Gallery in Currumbin. We provide easels and drawing boards.

Please arriveNo earlier than 8:50am. Class starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. There is a 45 minute lunch break at 12pm. There are lots of local cafes and bakeries open on Saturday to choose from. A small kitchenette is available to use with a microwave.

As we are working with a life model we ask that you respect their privacy and refrain from using your phones during the session.
